A Decade of Winning Partnerships.

A New Era of UK–India Opportunity.

For one week in June 2026, the UK–India corridor came alive with the energy of ideas and shared ambition. From the industrial heartland of the West Midlands to the institutional heart of London, UK–India Week 2026 brought together leaders, innovators, investors and changemakers to mark a decade of UK–India partnership and the beginning of a new chapter shaped by trust, delivery and possibility.

The Week culminated in the prestigious UK India Awards, honouring the best of the best: the leaders, institutions and partnerships that have strengthened the corridor and continue to shape its future.

Gujarat–West Midlands Corridor Takes Shape

For the first time ever, UK–India Week opened in the West Midlands with the IGF Smarter Regions Forum at the University of Warwick, placing regional delivery at the heart of the UK–India growth story. The programme also featured a fast-pitch showcase by Gujarat business leaders across sectors to spotlight how the state is building the ecosystems needed to power long-term UK–India economic collaboration.

The inaugural Gujarat–West Midlands Steering Committee meeting, chaired by IGF Founder & Chairman Manoj Ladwa, and a focused UK–India FTA briefing with Harjinder Kang, His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for South Asia, further reinforced the emphasis on building a practical regional growth corridor between two major industrial economies. The first two days of the Week were a clear recognition that the next chapter of the UK–India story will be written not only in London and Delhi, but in the regions powering growth, innovation and opportunity.

Where Gujarat Meets the UK–India Opportunity

Day 3 of UK–India Week 2026 moved to the High Commission of India in London, where IGF convened the Gujarat Future Forum: Regional Leadership, Global Opportunity. The Forum brought together senior leaders from Gujarat, the High Commission of India and the wider UK–India business community to spotlight Gujarat’s role in the next phase of the bilateral growth story. In his welcome remarks, IGF Founder & Chairman Manoj Ladwa underlined how the new UK–India growth equation increasingly runs through Gujarat, positioning the state as a serious and strategic partner for the UK.

The day featured remarks from India’s Deputy High Commissioner to the UK, Kartik Pandey, a Government of Gujarat presentation on the state’s policy and industrial strengths, and a fireside discussion with Gujarat Finance Minister Kanubhai Desai on “The Gujarat Advantage and the FTA Dividend”. The Forum was followed by a special Welcome Reception hosted by the High Commission to mark the 10th anniversary of UK–India Week.

Gujarat–West Midlands Corridor Takes Shape

The flagship Capital & Future Frontiers Forum at One Moorgate Place examined how the UK–India FTA and Vision 2035 can translate into long-term growth across trade, capital, innovation and strategic partnership. Convening senior ministers, CEOs, investors, founders, policymakers and technology leaders, the Forum brought capital and capability together in a single narrative, recognising that the most consequential partnerships of the next decade will be defined not only by the movement of investment, but by what that investment helps build.

India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal described the UK–India FTA as India’s most comprehensive trade agreement so far, while UK Business and Trade Secretary Peter Kyle framed it as part of a broader reset in bilateral relations. With interventions from IGF Founder & Chairman Manoj Ladwa, the UK’s AI and Online Safety Minister Kanishka Narayan, Biocon Chairperson Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Gujarat’s Finance Minister Kanubhai Desai, Aditya Birla Group Director Aryaman Birla and Bharti Enterprises’ Vice Chairman Rajan Bharti Mittal, the Forum reinforced a clear message:

The FTA is not the destination, but the platform for a new decade of investment, innovation and disciplined execution across the UK–India corridor.

Every trading relationship and every partnership stands on its own legs. The UK Free Trade Agreement is going to be the most comprehensive agreement that India has entered into so far, and it will come into force in July.

The UK–India FTA was part of a comprehensive resetting of the relationship between Britain and India. When two leaders are so committed to something, and their rapport and relationship are so strong, it puts a rocket under us when it comes to breaking down barriers.

For me, the greatest achievement is that the UK and India now instinctively see one another as primary partners across investment, business, academia, government and people-to-people relationships. The psychological ease of doing business together will now scale.

History will not judge us by the conversations we have had. It will judge us by what we build next: the businesses we create, the capital we deploy, the technologies we commercialise, the regions we connect and the partnerships we sustain through disciplined execution.

Biotech is a huge opportunity because computational biology has never been at this scale before. AI has made a huge transformational difference to the way we look at life sciences. The fact that we have got a lot of capabilities in life sciences, both in terms of talent and academic innovation, gives us that opportunity to leverage it.
